Puglia Sounds: Puglia Jazz Factory (i) at Opus Jazz Club

After the first succesful concert of the collaboration with Puglia Sounds in September 2015, Opus hosts this time Puglia Jazz Factory, a collective of musicians from one of the most creative regions in Italy: Apulia. Promoted by Fondazione Musica per Roma in collaboration with Puglia Sounds, they were first brought together as a special project of the 2011 edition of the Roma Jazz Festival. Following this they were invited to record an album for one of the seasonal appointments of Recording Studio (an open recording studio session) at the Auditorium Parco della Musica. From the Heel, their debut album was released in 2012 on the label Parco della Musica Records. African Way, their second album, is the result of an extraordinary experience, a tour in Africa, promoted by the Fondazione Musica per Roma, that brought the group in October 2014 to perform in Addis Abeba (Ethiopia), Libreville (Gabon), Maputo (Mozambique), Harare (Zimbabwe), Johannesburg, Durban (South Africa) and Nairobi (Kenya). “The African tour experience was wonderful, for various reasons: thanks to the many concerts we were able to work on our interplay and on our affinities. We saw very different places: some poor yet “real”, others rich but that we couldn’t really relate to. It was reason for many considerations about ‘our’ world, most importantly it was an incentive that enriched us emotionally and that we translated to music in a natural and (for us) urgent way”, they reflected.

Thanks to the union of distinct personalities, the group provides a multi faceted sound with just the right mix of jazz, rock and funk, nurtured by a common musical background that reaches pop and rock sonorities. They are a true collective without leader, the original compositions by all of the members offer the new challenge of Italian jazz.
