It is no exaggeration to say that the first autumn station of the MOL Train in the Opus highlights the “cream” of French jazz. However, Bulgarian-born trombonist Gueorgui Kornazov’s Horizons Quintet is not just a casual project of outstanding musicians, but a regularly working outfit since 2006, despite the numerous commitments of its members in other groups. The quintet's music moves from “pensive beauty” to “stormy savagery” on a wide mood scale and emotional range.
Their new album, The Budapest Concert, recorded live at their successful performance on BMC’s Jazzforum Budapest in 2011, will be available from the day of the concert....
